As usual, I picked a course to visit on my vacation this year. It was the Two Grey Hares 18 hole course in little Vadito, New Mexico. The course is a nice, pay-to-play course with three rubberized tee pads for each hole. The "small-world" occurrence this year was meeting Bill West there. Bill said to make sure I said hi to his old friend Fred Salaz. Bill was very complimentary in his praise for all the courses in Cincinnati but remembers Cabin Creek and Mt. Airy most from his games during the '98 Worlds. He said he looks forward to playing Idlewild since he knows it must be a great course given all he has heard about it and Fred's involvment in the design and evolution of the course. Fred, you reputation has now spread to the small remote corners of New Mexico!
