http://shadybrookdiscgolf.googlepages.com
• Sat September 18th, 2010
• Shadybrook Park (Lexmark campus in Lexington)
• 2 rounds of 18 holes
• Open to the general public
• Player’s Packs for the first 25 people pre-registered
• Advanced – $25, Intermediate – $20, Recreational – $20, Novice – $15 (add $5 if you register on the day of the tournament)
• Optional $5 ace pot
• CTP for each division and one overall
• More at http://shadybrookdiscgolf.googlepages.com
The Lexmark Championship is being held to raise money for the United Way of Central Kentucky. We'll have payouts similar to a PDGA C Tier event but this isn't PDGA sanctioned yet.... maybe next year. Top finishers and CTP winners are guaranteed to bring home discs. Details coming to the website soon.
The course is on the new Legacy Trail walking/biking trail, which opens the weekend before. Cane Run creek has been rehabed and we'll play the front and back 9s as a continuous 18. A good course is quickly becoming a great course. |

Darth, I am in Lexington on Wednesdays and would like to play your course. If I donate product to your tournament will you let me play it once a week for the remainder of the year? Thanks

Hey, Fred. I'm the coordinator for the Lexmark disc golf club. We'd *love* to have you play our course. Thanks for the donation offer, but that's not necessary.
We play at noon on Tuesday and Wednesdays throughout the year. Next Wednesday (8/11) is this year's scramble.
Does Wednesday at noon work for you? If you prefer something like 5pm, just let me know and I'll make sure that somebody's out on the course to meet you. The park is for employees, contractors, and family/friends of each, so you're all set when playing with one of us. Otherwise, you may be slightly harassed and/or escorted off the property by campus security.
I'm already thinking about a "Played by Fred Salaz" sign for the course. :)

If you wanna play in the Lexmark Championship and need a room, please say so in this thread and I'll try to negotiate a discounted rate. The "Marriott Courtyard Lexington North" is a few hundred feet from the course. How sweet is that?

Update...
Pre-registration is moving faster than expected. We're up to 20 players... so the players packs will be gone really soon.

lilhat, thanks for th offer of letting me play. I'm not worthy. I am usually in lexington around 7 pm on Wednesdays. If you can shoot me an email(salazf@fuse.net) or someone to contact I would love to play the course. I enjoy speed golf if anyone likes to run. Thanks again. Sorry for the late reply, I was out of town last week.

Our discs arrived today and they look great. We have over a hundred of these in a bunch of different colors... - ESP Nuke - ESP Buzzz - Elite Z Stalker - Pro D Soft Magnet Sneak peak... Plus we decided to sweeten to payouts. Like 4 discs and a Discraft sweatshirt for the advanced division winner. If you haven't pre-registered yet, re-think that.

There's been some questions about payouts. Fair enough.
We're not PDGA sanctioned (hopefully next year) but our goal starting out was to be better than a C-tier payout (85%) and hopefully around a B-tier payout (100%). We're trying to raise something decent for the United Way... but it would be a sad day if we didn't give away some nice plastic and random other good stuff. If 40 players show and we collect an average of $20 per player, that's $800 in. And... I'm estimating that we'd give out (retail wise) slightly more than that $800 figure. So... we may even break the 100% payout mark. :)
We ordered over a hundred tourney discs. 25 are for the player's packs. Around 40 or 50ish are for prizes... depending on the turnout ... top half of each division gets at least one disc. And the rest will be available for purchase.
Did I convince ya?

Results here... http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=0Al84fJxkX-L_dFRqMkhhVl9EQk5CNm04UHNPRk96dnc&authkey=CPOtva8J&hl=en&single=true&gid=14&output=html The disc and gear payout was over 100% of the registration fees (retail-wise). Plus I learned how to pronounce "Serapiglia". Massively good times. Look for this tourney again next year. We'll try to set the date much, much earlier and I think that September is a good fit. My lofty goals for 2011 include (1) convincing facilities to pay for the installation of pads and (2) being a PDGA sanctioned B tier. Gotta have lofty goals.
