So the worlds was publicised as having a $100,000 purse. Nate only won $7,000. Why doesn't the PDGA follow the PGA's payout format and give the winner 18% and not 7%? It just feels like Nate winning $18,000 (or whatever 18% would of been, I don't really know the total purse) would be an awesome move toward legitimizing the event.
I am sort of ignorant to pro payouts (since I'm not a pro or ever won cash). Any pros have any thoughts or anyone who has been involved? It just feels like the scale used to payout should be different...I bet Nate wishes he won $18,000...

There were "many" divisions, not just the Pro Open. Check the PDGA.com site for the results and payouts in each division.

There are a million divisions so that more people can be 'winners'. The PDGA has always sought to maximize participation as opposed to modeling DG after other professional sports where there is a huge incentive to be the 'best of the best'.
