Thought this would be a fun topic, crusing over the results I summed up the most number of CCS series wins....results below:
Dave Cox 4 Championships, 2007,2008,2010,2011
Jim Stillgenbauer 4 Championships 1999,2000,2001,2003-Three years in a row, ties most consecutive.
Mark Holland 3 Championships on record (maybe more....) 1996,1997,1998-Three years in a row, all with 6 first place finishes, 8 total series points, greatest run ever?
Pete Caldwell 2 Championships-2002,2004
Jeff Vandemark 2 Championships-2006, 2009
Matt Blakely 1 Championship-2005
Some might argue that competition has increased over the years, but if you look over the fields you'll see some tough competitors listed ....
Numerically, the Mark Holland run was the most dominate performance as far as margin of victory and number of 1st place wins....
Then we have Jim and Dave with the most total wins, can Dave complete a three peat this year and set the record at 5 Championships?

I was one point away in 2009 from winning that year which would have given me the last 5. My schedule this year will probably be less CCs and more sactioned stuff so I would say it is more open than it has been in years. Only 3 people have won the open series since 2005. I don't know I would say the competition is tougher now. Jim in his prime was a great player and Pete has told me how dominate Mark Holland was back then.

Brent Newport won the first city championship in 1990. Yours truly won in 1991 through 1994, just before taking it to the road, including Japan, en route to being the #3 leading money winner in the 1995 season behind Climo and Moser.
I am pretty sure Mark H. won the city title in '95.

I have played with all of these guys over the years and I'd have to say that Mark Holland was the smoothest most consistant player of them all. Having said that, everyone of them kicked my butt many of times when I used to compete, so my response is definately not to insult anyone's playing ability....they are all top players!

If Holland won in 95 that would give him 4 city titles...and all in a row.... but Cox nailed down his 5th title last year,not to mention he is a two time putting champ..statistically Holland's number of first place wins seperates out his performance from anyone, but Caldwell just said the other day at our meeting he quit because him and Jim had caught up to him....but that was probably Pete just being Pete...then there is Jim's two aces in one round at the Worlds? Is that right? Heck, two in one tournament would be nuts even if it was a different round..especially a worlds layout. Then Bob's got 4 in a row as well? I wonder if anyone has those results from those years, it would be cool to get them in our database. All top notch players and good guys. Here's a couple fun quiz questions:
1. Which local (Cincinnati) player had the highest PDGA player rating, and what was it?
2. Which local (Cincinnati) player had the highest rated round ever, when and where?
3. What's the best finnish of a local player during a Worlds event?
4. Which local player is in the PDGA hall of fame and why?

Jim Stilgenbauer and Mark Holland tied for eighth in the Cincy Worlds in '98 (that was the year Jim aced two different holes in the first round at big Ox).

I came in 4th at the '95 Worlds in South Bend, IN and 5th at the '98 Cincy Worlds in the Masters division.
Jim Morris and I won the Worlds doubles in '94, the same year Fred and I won the National doubles - both tourneys in Texas and in the Masters division. Disc golf was nice-in-the-nineties for me... :-)
