Heading down to Sarasota on Friday and looking to play some courses.
Anyone been down there? If so, what are the best courses to hit?
From DGCR I only see 2 that may be worth a look: Payne and Water Tower.

Haven't been down there myself, we always end up down at Sanibel/Captiva. From previous research, it seemed the locals always recommended WaterTower as their favorite. Lakeview Park on the outskirts of Sarasota looks solid too.
If you don't mind the drive, probably an hour or so from Sarasota, North Port Charlotte Regional Park is a pretty decent course. My bro-in-laws made the drive from Sanibel just to get a new course in and it was very enjoyable. Though the mosquitoes were crazy bad. It's already been redesigned since I was there in 2011.
Send "thrembo" on DGCR a message. He's a great dude that played guide for us at NPCRP and knew the area courses well.

Water tower is a fun course.. And Lake View is in Sarasota, it's a good course but there is a swamp that runs through the entire course so bring some old discs..

I lived there for 6 years, water tower is the home of the local Club "Sky Pilots", Lake view was cool and not exactly a swamp, its just tributaries for the large inlet nearby. Just watch for gators, snakes, black widows, etc. if ya get lost or need some info just holla.
