DISC GOLF BENEFIT TOURNAMENT
Delaware State Park
December First
Some of you know me. My youngest son is Lucas and he is 26 years old. Two weeks ago it was discovered that Lucas has a tumor on his left thigh. A biopsy was taken and it is an aggressive Lymphoma cancer. He is in stage two. He is able to work at this time but he is on a walker. The tumor has weakened the thigh bone and if it breaks they will have to amputate his leg. He starts chemo treatments November 4th.
To help Lucas with his expenses there will be a benefit Disc golf tournament at the Delaware State Park course on December first. This is not a PDGA sanctioned tournament. Cash will be paid out to all divisions. As more information becomes available I will post it on the message boards. Call me if you have any questions. Hope to see you there.
$25.00 all divisions
$15.00 to help Lucas
$10.00 towards payout

So sorry to hear that news, Don. I'm sure I speak for everyone in hoping that it all works out well for Lucas. I'd be glad to help out, if can, at least by playing...is that at the Gordon Holton Memorial DGC? Do you have an online way to send registrations and/or donations (such as PayPal)? I'd be glad to post this up on DG Course review, if you want to expand the audience (how many entries would you like, if we can get 'em?). Finally, is there anything else we can do to help? Maybe donate our unwanted discs for a fundraiser auction or raffle? --Jeff A.

The tournament is at the Gordon Holton memorial. I helped put that course in and Lucas has only played in one tournament and it was at that course. We are working on adding stuff like a raffle and possibly some live music during the break. I will post more as I know. We are getting a web site up and when it becomes available I will let you know. Paypal will be available at that time. It has been amazing to see the disc golfers who want to help. Thank you one and all.

I want to thank everyone who attended and helped at the benefit tournament this past weekend to help Lucas Alexander, a cancer victim, with his expenses. The Disc golf tournament raised a total of $1,684.00. There was a benefit concert that night that raised over $3,000.00 and a local company offered to match funds up to $2500.00 which means that we were able to participate in raising over $7,000.00 to help Lucas with his expenses. We had beautiful weather and 35 Disc golfers played two rounds of short tees at Delaware. There was a CTP for every card the first round. We had a raffle and many people donated items for it. There was a CTP and the closest five received a case of beer. We had live music in-between the rounds; a sister duo called the Lucky Penny Sisters. There was an ace thrown by Carl Chiles from West Carrollton. It was hole 12, it was his last hole on the first round and I got to see it because I was on his card. Disc Golf Mart provided Subway lunches for everyone. Did I mention that we raised $1,684.00?
I’m hesitant to try to name those who helped because I might not name someone. I will say that you golfers touched my heart. You showed love and compassion on someone you did not know. You only knew his dad (me). Many people who could not make it sent in donations. I offer a hearty thank you to one and all.
Here are the results. Brad Schick won the open division with an even 100 Mike Butsko had a 106 and Dan Mowka had a 109

Don Alexander won the advance masters with a 118 Bob Roberts had a 126 and Carl Chiles had a 126
Craig Fernandez and Damien Brown tied in the intermediate division with a 122 If I remember correctly, Damien won the play-off Bret Shoewalter had a 128
Tim Potter won the rec division with a 131 Mike Mason had a 132 and Scott Jenkins had a 133
