It's great that Cincy and Dayton have been able to share a few CCS/BIDs..part of this is that they may be run a bit differently. Not having the scores up within 48 hours should be the least of our worries. I can't quantify this, but my sense is that the standings aren't dwelled upon in Dayton as they are here (while Dayton is much more thorough in making sure all bag tags are in play for their BIDs). These are just little nuances, and there's no right or wrong way. We'll get through this, and move forward.

Remember these are CC's, not pdga. We are there to have fun with our buddies and be as casual as the rules allow. The question is, did you have fun? I did, Rebecca did! We should be there working on our game first and foremost, and having fun while doing it.

I feel I have to comment.  I apologize that things didn't go smooth.  They usually do.  If you want to blame someone, BLAME ME!!!!  I was late due to the fact I left something at my house and had to return to get it to the tourney.  Second Scott Miller did a GREAAT job in my absence.  Third someone who didn't even [play did the payout.  I'm sorry if some of you did not like what you got.  Unfortunately we cannot please everyone.  As for brushing people off. I did not do that, but if the perception was that I did I'm sorry.  Remember it is all for the fun of it to play and to volunteer and some of these comments make it "not fun".
Sorry you didn't have the time you expected.

FYI  I also emailed these scores to dan h to post on your results page

Thanks Sean, again I appreciate every thing and know it isn't easy to run the combo event especially. The mix up with AMII and Rec got worked out so all was good at the start, hopefully everyone found their division.

The biggest issue which I will make certain to designate next year is the fact that the Dayton club runs their events differently, I know Lawrence(Scorched) is new and excitable and his message probably more goofing than anything, as far as Grant, well there is no explanation for him with his always positive message. People feeling blown off, maybe they were asking a helper that just didn't know and didn't convey that, it is hectic during signups so that may have been part of it.

It was a fun event and I saw Tim's ace before he did so that was something new.

And now back to topic...

The scores are updated on our site now. Thanks Sean for the quick results post.

Looking over these scores, I realized that I neglected to sort out first place ties in two tournaments this year. I'm assuming there were playoffs to decide first place, but the results don't reflect that. I saved the board cards, but they don't tell me anything, so I need some help.

At Harbin, Vandemark and Adam Grant tied for first in Open. Was there a playoff and who won?

At Oxford, Ron Godbey and Billy Ray Osborne tied for first in Adv Masters. Was there a playoff and who won?

Thanks.

I am not sure who does the ratings but I can tell you they are not always accurate because they aren't adjusted when temp holes are added to the courses.  It was a nice idea but they were put in to emulate what the PDGA does so some are pretty accurate but once you get a whacked out one it is hard to go by. Oxford is notorious for it's variations as are most 18 hole courses as events get larger and ghost holes are added. Maybe some one can add more to this, I am not sure who was responsible for implementing the ratings we see on some of the courses today.

The ratings are based on some kind of ssa scoring system. The courses have a standard rating and are not as sophisticated as PDGA ratings. The web ratings system has never worked well.

I have heard that Lee, aka L_Stephens, is the TD for this CCS, hopefully whoever is TD will be forthcoming with the details. Since Idlewild is the most complex as far as OB rules, the more information provided to help the new players understand what is expected of them the better.

I'll be out Friday around noon marking OB if anyone wants to come out....

First...let me say this is a CCS...Which some of you think stands for Course Challenge Series...but it really stands for Causa Celeritas Saltem...which is Latin for 'For the sake of quickness at all events.' This isn't some fancy smancy PDGA event where everyone playing Idlewild is a Top Notch Pro or Top Notch Wanna Be...it's a bunch of us locals having a fun day at Idlewild in a competitive but FUN setting. Therefore...we aren't setting the O.B.'s to challenge the 1000 rated players...we will have them fair and OBVIOUS for all levels of play.

Hole #1...absolutely no OB
Hole #2...if you go in or over the creek to the left of the fairway...which will be visibly marked...OB...if you go in the pond between the short and long baskets...OB.
Hole #3...If you go in or over the creek to the right of the fairway...same creek as the previous hole...you are OB...if you land in the doggie grave up by #3 baskets..it will be played as a BUNCER...you move your disc to the right...left...or back...but no closer to the hole...drop your mini..and make the putt...with NO STROKE PENALTY.
Hole #4....no OB
Hole #5....if you land in the clearly marked creek..you are OB...if you land on the much debated peninsula to the right..you are IN BOUNDS.
Hole #6...No OB...we will play the Mando because it is clearly marked...but we plan on eventually removing that sign...Someone remind me to paint a drop zone for someone that misses the mando...unless someone can argue that we can ignore that Mando.
Hole #7...No OB
Hole #8...No OB
Hole #9...No OB
Hole #10...No OB...I mean..if you roll down the hill into the creek on #16...do you really think it's fair to call that OB..then the dude or dudette can legally shoot from their previous lie...and take less strokes than they would have...knowning the rules is half the battle.
Hole #11...I'll mark the OB around the creek..basically if you are actually in the creek bed...OB...if you are to the left, right, short, long...you are fine...#11 green will NOT be played as an island...you will have to be in the creekbed to be OB.
Hole #12...No OB.
Hole #13 LONG....in the clearly marked creek will be OB.
Hole #14 LONG...If you hit the tree in front of you..and roll backwards into the creek...I guess you are OB since it is will be clearly marked...but other than that...no OB
Hole #15...the creek in front of the basket and along #16's fairway will be clearly marked....but the green will not play as an island...for the pros...this is a good green for an island...but we will probably be mostly novices...so why keep adding up needless strokes?
Hole #16...I'll clearly mark the creek beds OB...but none of that silly left of the short basket OB...and no island green on the long placement.
Hole #17...No OB
Hole #18...if you happen to get one past the fence beyond the basket...then you deserve the OB penalty...we'll call it 'for safety reasons'...we don't want you playing in traffic.

I guess you gathered that means first round from the short tees to the short baskets...round #2 is long tees to the long baskets. Right now the Weather Channel is saying a high of 74F and partly cloudy for Saturday...if it would be 95F..I'd say let's do 2 rounds from the shorts...but it should be a hell of a day for disc golf.

I don't foresee us having over 90 people...I'd be amazed if we did..but someone may want to bring an extra top quality basket just in case...we can always use it for the Ace Fund throw off. If anyone would like to donate a disc or two for some CTPs...feel free to. If anyone has a girlfriend, wife, or just happens to know a girl that would play disc golf...bring'em...we like to pay out heavy to all the girls.

Remember to have fun...it's nothing but a walk in the park playing the sport you love with friends...see everyone Saturday.
