What are the goals for the CCS?
How big does everyone want it to get? In 2009, a record number of participants were in the CCS . There were a total of 734 registrations or an average of 82 people per course! Is growth still an issue? It is always nice to bring new people in, but what is the maximum capacity of these events?
Does anyone want to change the makeup of the competition? In 2009, the competitions were cut into 1/3’s for ability levels:
252 Novice (247 Novice, 2 Juniors, and 3 Novice women)
267 Advanced (153 Advanced, 100 Advanced Masters, and 14 Advanced Women)
212 Open (130 Open, 75 Masters, and 10 Open Women)
247 registrations in Men’s Novice… Does this not speak volumes about how an intermediate division is needed?
Is bagging a problem? Lots of ideas have been attempted, suggested, etc… Can more be done?
I know this might be complex and could take a while to implement; I personally believe a rating system would help control the bagging. Once a player rating has passed a division threshold, let them move up and carry their points with them.
