PDGA is currently accepting bids for most upcoming majors...it would be cool if our club could get something together for 2011... http://www.pdga.com/pdga-majors-available

Try for 2012- it takes a bunch of planning for a Major. Great idea!

In the past, efforts to seek major-type events have not fared well because often the club hasn't been able to secure the required number of volunteers to pull it off. Maybe this time it will be different. One more timely issue at hand is: Will there be a 2010 Flying Pig Open?

If any tourny in this area is worthy of a Major it is the bluegrass open. Its already a A tier and draws more traveling players than the piggy, and the courses are better. If a few slight adjustments were made to banklick it would play alot harder. Like hole 21 in the lake pin, hole 12 in the long pin (that i have never seen), and making hole one and two one hole from ones tee to twos basket. I think you could turn bank into a 18 hole course with a par around 60-65, for a large tourny like we are speaking of. I am a new club member who is taking this year to learn and hopefully this time next year I can say I volunteer and feel I can be of help and not just some guy standing around.

I'm not familiar w/ the bluegrass open but have been meaning to ask...what is it exactly? And I am very interested in volunteering for any event in northern KY. (sounds like the topic/question though is that this will be in OH)

Ohio has a Major, The Brent Hambrick. Perhaps, you are thinking of an A tier which, would be good for sure. The Pig or BGO could be bumped up with added cash from sources that you volunteers provide. The extra added cash is the only thing that makes a B tier an A.

Is actually an NT event, which is different from a major. Ohio does have a major this year... Am Worlds.
Here is a list of majors.
