Boone County Parks was given the "Outstanding Park Department of the Year" award or 2009.  Boone County was recognized at the Kentucky Rec and Park Society conference in Louisvile.  The award is given to only one parks dept in the state each year.  Also honored was Paul Ankenbauer, program planner for the Boone County Parks Dept.  He was named "2009 Professional of the year" to recognize "a practicing recreational professional for outstanding contributions to the field of parks and recreation."
