Meeting was held. 5 members attended. Marlow, Bayless, Vincent, Jones and me.
It's funny, I can still hear the echos of the new guys several years ago that knew how to fix the club which apparently had lots of problems, by having the meetings in public venues so it would be "more welcoming to the new members". Those know-it-all guys have moved on and the same old guys keep making coming to meetings a priority. It's good that things keep on keeping on and the business of the GCFDA gets taken care of, which is why the club has survived for 26 years, but it would be nice if the people on this message board who have all the great ideas for 'other members' to do, would show up. I guess I could be an optimist and say that everything must be going ok so why spend your valuable time sitting through Robert's Rules of Order stuff.
The good thing about Mecklenburg Gardens (besides the great food and beer) is that it's quiet enough to actually discuss things and hold a meeting. Some of the other restaurants are very difficult to get any business accomplished.

Pete,
Just a small observation, maybe the “Back by popular demand Mecklenburg Gardens” is not as popular a location as perceived. Sure good food and beer and a quiet environment are nice, but if attendance is your goal, then the meeting should be held where the most people would attend.
Attendance dropped from 21 in February, to 11 in April, to 5 in June. Location might have been an issue here.
Another key point on why some newcomers are not coming to these meetings are that important topics are not decided by voting. Major issues like adding an intermediate division or eliminating the novice (now recreational) from the series were simply decided as the "new way".
Instead we got to vote on irrelevant things like changing the name of Novice to Recreational.

I think the low attendance is an indicator that there are no major crisis that needs resolution or attention and that most disc golfers would rather play disc golf on a nice Monday evening. This is a good thing.

Yes that is a good thing. Another point to consider is that meeting attendance might exhibit some seasonality ... high attendance when the weather is cold and low attendance when it is warm.

Good observation. I also think there is a direct correlation to the start of The Bachelorette.

Its actually very simple. Those that truly care make the sacrifice to be there, while those that don't, won't be there.

I think Gerry's got it - the Bachelorette. Who wants to go to a boring club meeting when they can watch the Bachelorette? Damn, what was I thinking and why was I at the meeting?

Maybe its because we need more pie charts, or maybe that's cow bells.

Obviously more pie charts, graphs, data of any kind will be ignored.
It is funny… you originally said:

You say that and then you didn’t even show up for the meeting…
You ask for data, statistics, proposals, on this subject, and we stepped up and brought it....
then you don’t show up and make fun of them?
You're a winner!!!!

That's because I don't care what divisions are offered at a CCS event. But thanks for seeing me as an intended audience member, I am a winner
