With the proper investment, the drainage in the park could be dramatically improved, a la Mason Sports Park. On the backside of the land is obannon creek, when wet it flows very fast and very heavy, unfortunately in some parts the tributaries that feed the creek over the years have filled up with loose topsoil from the farmland. There are 5 small creeks that run through the course, 2 of those five could use some excavating to improve drainage, another two could use the appropriate rock to remove energy from the water to further prevent erosion. In general, the course will not be one of the better to play during the rainy season, think Turtlecreek back 9 or Monroe as far as the fairways are concerned. The creeks can rage like Idlewild during a downpour and fairways cut across them, several small to medium sized bridges will need to be put in place.

Well from that comment, it sounds like this will be quite the building project. Hopefully the drainage will be addressed properly and will produce a very nice course. Excited to see and play the final product when ready. From this it sounds like 'maybe' this year.

Weather is not looking very good for this weekend. I may cancel this Saturdays work day but hoping things blow over or change by Friday and by then I will know better and make a final decision and post.

Just a reminder that there's a volunteer event scheduled for this upcoming Saturday and Sunday. The weather forecast is looking pretty good at this point. If you're free, head on out there and get this course built! I'll be going on Saturday if anyone in the clifton-northside area needs a ride.

I'm in Milford, and would love to help out. Pity I didn't find these boards sooner. Is there an email list to keep updated on volunteer events, or do I have to keep checking this thread?

You can click here: http://www.cincinnatidiscgolf.com/Events/VolunteerEvents.aspxIt's also in the drop-down under events. I can see how people wouldn't look there though since it's easy to just assume that's only for tournaments.

April 30th is the next workday, we'll be starting at 9A.M. and ending at 5P.M., so if you're planning on helping out you can show up anytime between those times. All you need is a pair of gloves, you are more than welcome to bring additional equipment if you are so inclined. Thanks and hope to see you out there. Feel free to call me if you have any questions: 513-602-0637

We have been working very hard at clearing the fairways before we rent a deforester to clear the rest and all the piles of debris. Huge thanks goes out to those that have helped so far. We have the first 2 holes fairly ready with some minor pruning remaining and have started on hole3. We have a ton of work to do here and we need all the help we can get.

Attention all East Siders; we have tons of fairway cleanup to do and this is something anyone can do with or with out supervision. All we ask is that you call and let either Myself or Andrew know you are working on the course and how long and what you where able to accomplish. We need to keep track of all the work to show the Parks. The more help we get the faster this course will be ready.

@Mike No one has played this course yet since its still in the clearing stages. I believe you are talking about the Carl Von Caldway course on Buckwheat road.
@Brumley There are months of work yet to accomplish. The date for the grand opening is dependent on how many volunteers participate. For the most part it has been myself and Andrew and a handful of others. Anyone can work on clearing fairways of brush and debris, just leave the more important saw cutting to those that know the plans. Questions contact either myself or Andrew.

I think you are mixing up the Karl Von Coldewey DGC with the future Goshen DGC.
