A little negative publicity for DG. Wonder why the PDGA and Innova dumped this guy like a hot rock?  They eliminated him from websites, he's no longer a member, and Innova deleted his page.

Yeah it is a black eye to the sport. Good thing it wasn't someone more recognized like Feldber,Climo or Jenkins.

Thing is Phil-No one but disc golfers know that Feldberg, Climo or Jenkins are any more 'special' than this guy...or any DGer for that matter.

In the eyes of the general public (as well as Adidas, Gatorade, and ESPN) all disc golfers are just as uncouth as the foul-mouthed potheads who disrupted their famuly's picnic in the park last weekend.

Wow, what a stupid thing to do! Mr. Layland was the USDGC entry from KY and a decent fellow. At some point soon the tax implications alone will destroy the prohibition of something made by God. Until then, have the sense to not break two laws at once. No texting while driving!

Feldberg was on Conan so there may be some people outside the sport that know him. Either way it is a black eye to the sport just like everytime an NFL player beats his girlfriend/wife or carries a gun into a club.

if peter brady were standing at my door with a "black eye"...I'd invite him in, because im human. Noone is perfect... some of us run the country into the ground by fraud, some drill offshore and make a "real" mess of things, some wanna kill us just because were free and allowed to throw disc! Then theres some that smoke pot...and they happen to throw disc. We all know who our local smkrs are....which means tht the people around this phenominal playr knew he was also....on the hush , hush ofcourse. But, as soon as he gets popped(not smugglin guns or kids) w some weed, they shake him like a flea ridden DOG! No sense of community in tht and a tinge snubbish. Even pro nfl teams wrk w players under worse conditions. its called humanity

Great point, Sc0rched. The reaction didn't help with their image either.

its silly to think that layland hurt disc golf's image. I'm guessing disc golf has more potheads than any other sport in the world (and I'm including all alternative sports). Instead of distancing themselves from marijuana they should be embracing it. Here the pitch:
"Hey there young fella,
do you wanna participate in outdoor activities but suck at sports? Then have I got the game for you. Try disc golf!!! Its practically a sport and is so easy that many of our players enjoy playing while high. Some of them like to be extremely high. So don't worry about your lack of coordination, we've got thousands of player of varying skill levels and mental capacities. We look forward to you joining us, and remember 'take a toke, you might save a stroke.'"

Pretending that there aren't thousands of pothead disc golfers is ridiculous. Besides the potheads are much more pleasant to play with than those knee-high sock wearers.
