I think the reason it took so long is because it was an A tier so everyone took there time more .
With the likelihood of more beginners playing the CC, I bet 24 holes would wind up being a six-hour round.

The CC will probally have much lower turnout than the BGO. I dont see the round taking six hours.

We had two groups yesterday... two doubles and three doubles for the cards. The three doubles teams took 5 hours.

I was wondering how long that was going to take. We were out there a couple hours earlier and saw the doubles groups out on the new holes as we were leaving.
I know that when we've added 6 temp holes to the Oxford CC we end up not getting out of there until 7:00 or 7:30 after the awards ceremony.

In a CC where Boone (short and straightforward) is already being played-there is no reason to play the 6 new Idlewild holes. They are a great addition to the course by adding more conventional holes to an unconventional course. But they also add a ton of walking/round time without adding a lot of scoring opportunities. I don't have figures, but I'll bet there is much less score deviation on those 6 holes as compared to the rest of the course. This is not to mention the possibility that E may not even be playable if it's a busy Saturday of families and fisherman.
Idlewild Original (long or short) is already a very healthy round-especially when you're playing a whole different course later that day. Boone will add a great balance to Idlewild's chaos, but the 6 extras would be superfluous. Just my $.02.

Ultimately this decision is in the hands of the TD for this CCS. If it was me I would have us play 18 shorts at Idle for round 1 and round 2 would be Boone as it is. I would consider a ghost group or adding temp holes to allow more than 90 players.

Well then the question is who is the TD?

I have no problem with it. Pizza was good and a good deal. My one suggestion would be if he made up some pizza ahead of time. I was lucky enough to be one of the first customers so it wasn't so bad, but it did back up later.

Why do we start so late anyhow? 9:00AM Tee off makes for happier families, IMO.

While I do not figure to be THE TD I will be helping. When the idea of the Boone/Idlewild CC was proposed is was for Boone first. We felt more true rec players would come out to Boone in the afternoon than Idlewild. I also agree with Ben about Idlewild.

Pass the word to those who don't frequent the board.

This will be my first CCS tourney. I didn't see an Intermediate division...did I miss something? I just wanted to make sure. I have no problem playing Advanced, but I just wanted to check.
Also, is there anything else I need to know before my friend and I come down, since this will be our first CCS event? Like, what is a good time to come down, should we call to reserve a spot, etc.
Thanks in advance

Welcome to Cincinnati CCS. We will be glad to have you. There is no intermediate division. You need to be at the course and signed up by 9am. You shouldn't need to worry about reserving a spot.

Just an FYI.. the advanced masters men and recreational scores for the last CCS are combined into one group.
