We will be running a B-Tier Global Tournament at Mt.Airy DGC on August 20-21 with hopes of making this the epicenter for the PDGA event.
This is Mt.Airy's 100th year anniversary this year. This is one of four courses used back in 98' that Chuck Kennedy and others where able to create the rating system we use today which brings us full circle to the Global Event.
While we work out the details and planning I have a few questions for everyone.
Options: we can cap it at 72 (4 players per group) or 90( five players per group) which do you all prefer?
Keep in mind this is a 3 round one course event.
Final 9 of the top Pro Men just for show, yes or no?
Food to be catered at the event or everyone on their own?
We are in desperate need of sponsors, either locals or business's. Contact the club officers for more info.
TD : Adam Jones
513-255-7275
I will have sign ups ready in about a week.
Thanks

Since it is 2 day event 90 wouldn't be a problem. I would suggest no rec division like the disc n dat. Final 9 would be cool. Not sure about food....just my thoughts

when I first started playing down here there was disc n' dat discs that had the cincy skyline on them that was sweet...if you could get the cut in the hill on a disc that'd be really sweet. I am guessing you want something that has to do w/ mt. airy...but that disc was sweet

We will be ordering a first set of 50 which will be numbered. Going for $25 each and all proceeds go towards the Course Renovation Program to help cover costs.
If these sell well we will order a second set of 50 but that is it, next CFR Disc will be for another course and feature a hole from that course. All in all this will be a start of a long list of collector discs showcasing our courses.

Am's Players Packs will be provided by the PDGA with a disc from Vibram and DGA and a DVD from Billy Crump of Clash DVD productions. We will also be adding other items from sponsors and the GCFDA.
If we get enough sponsorship money we may do a shirt but that is doubtful. We have been working on a different shirt idea to combine all our PDGA events and supporters in one cool shirt.

Adam, I was looking on here and the PDGA website... I have one question, it is only 18 holes correct? Not any added holes?

Correct Brad, we have to stick with 18 holes, hence capped at 90 and the layout will be Not using current holes 1 and 18 but using old holes 7 and 8. As soon as I have maps ready I will add them to the flyer and boards for others. I hope you can make this one bro.

Update: we will have a limited supply of PDGA provided players packs, only the first 40 Amateurs will receive their merchandise of discs from Vibram and DGA and a DVD from Billy Crump of Clash DVD productions. This is due to the fact that every tournament in the Global event will be receiving 40 packs. We are working on additional sponsors and added items for all participants and will update those items later.

Mt Airy is looking FANTASTIC!!!
Mt. Airy's new baskets and sleeves marks a huge step in getting an old legend back to pristine shape. New benches are looking great across the course, along with fresh mulch.
With the 100th anniversary of Mt. Airy coming up, it could not have happened at a better time. These updates have been part of a long plan that could've only happened by one person's persistence, Adam Jones.
Adam has been Mt. Airy course pro for many years and has worked very hard to build relationships with the Park Department's staff. This relationship has allowed Adam to recommend solutions to the Park Department and execute them.
Recently, Adam has reached out deeper into the community, to the schools and neighborhood organizations. He has also been organizing volunteer days as club events. His dedication and hours have been extensive this year.
The Centennial Open coming up is a huge milestione in what's been a very long time coming for Adam. His hard work and determination will be on display for everyone. When you're out there enjoying the beautiful course that is provided remember who went to board meetings, park office, local community meetings, and behind the scene work. Thanks Adam
