Bob, since the FPO is later in the year our focus is on other priorities right now,(course install at goshen and bluegrass open next weekend. Sanctioning is being filled out this week and should be sent in soon and appearing on the PDGA tournament schedule.
We will be updating the FPO flyer info which is located in the Events Tab, most of that should be accurate now.

Looking for sponsorships for the event, can be anything from cash to merchandise to volunteers. Contact me or Andrew for details please.
How does everyone feel about maybe having a T-shirt this year? Haven't done one in a few years, thoughts?

A Dri-fit T would be cool, or one similar

True, definitely cooler than cotton ;) Any chance to pre-order larger sizes, if this actually goes forward? I really could use a nice dri-fit that fits nice ... though big guys like me probably shouldn't wear too many shirts that have 'pig' on them, I suppose :\

If we do go with shirts it will be by pre registration and will have a cut off of about 2 weeks before the event, anyone that would want a shirt would need to pick their size when they register. Dry fits are great and I would like to do those again.

We are working on setting up /updating the pay pal page for the Pig and will be adding an optional Dry Fit shirt for anyone that would like one, and next year we are proposing the cheaper cotton T (no option),with logo and sponsors, for all players as an included item and included with entry fee (order of about 100 or so). Dry Fits are looking to cost around $20-$25 total as of right now. Next year cotton T's are closer to around $12 each.
Still in need of help / volunteers for the event and sponsors in any shape or form. Contact Andrew or I for info and details please. Hole/Tee sponsors are always welcome and should be in amounts greater than say $20, and you will get to keep the sign if you like or we can if you plan to keep or start a tradition of support for this event and others.
Registration will be open very soon once these and a few other details are ironed out.
Same basic layouts for both courses as last year, longs at Airy but with shorter temp tees for Intermediate and Recreational divisions on a few holes (1,5,7-8,11,15,maybe more). Harbin I will modify some of the OB rope areas but keeping the same holes(2,3,7) we used as before.

Short tees would help to speed up play.
I will be available to help with setup or what ever is needed. I should also have my son with me, we could set him up as a spotter where ever needed. (No Charge).

Thanks Gary, all volunteers will receive a tournament stamp disc per day of help as our way of saying thanks.
We will try to setup rope OB and stuff by Thursday night for the event so others can practice Friday.
Fred and the Nati may run doubles Friday....hint hint.

All details and info is available on the flyer in the events tab under Flying Pig Open, check back often for any updates or changes.
Shortcut here : www.cincinnatidiscgolf.com/Events/FlyingPigOpen.aspx
As of right now the field is capped at 90 players, preregistration is incouraged to help us organize and to help you ensure a spot in the event, there is always a good chance this will fill before the morning of.
If by chance we forsee a lot more players wanting to play, say up to 120+ or so we may try to split the fields between the two courses and allow up to 180 players but I am hoping to find out if we still can reserve the area we need on the other days. If this was to happen I will oversee the Pro fields at Airy for 2 rounds saturday while Drew oversees the Ams at Harbin 4 two rounds, then swap on Sunday, payouts/awards may be done at both courses, but we will worry about that if when we need to.
All non pdga members must cover the $10 fee, remember to check out the supporting membership info and we should have forms on hand if you like but anyone can fill this out online with the PDGA after the event, just like those could after the CCS at Rapid Run. Check it out here : www.pdga.com/supporting

Worried about speed of play, you should give all the pros and masters a stopwatch!

How many would like to see a final 9 with the top 4/5 Open men players?
If anyone remembers, last time the bottom few cards in Rec took over a hour longer to finish at Airy then the entire field. They had no time for lunch and we could not hold up the event for lack of time to finish before the sun went down. It wasn't just those cards but both the Intermediate and Rec fields took much longer to complete the first round then the rest of the field. I guess I made Airy a bit to tuff for those amateur groups hence I am using a few shorter tee's to help speed play along, Adding more spotters (if we get the extra help) will also move things along better. Since I am not playing this year I will be roaming the course to make sure everyone keeps moving along.
Anyone that is not planning on playing we can sure use all the help we can get, just let me or Andrew know. Plus anyone that does help will get some event swag.
Anyone that does not wish to register through the online paypal service we have set up, contact me or Andrew and we can do cash or check entries.
Both courses could use a little TLC and prep for the event. Next time your out playing these courses please help us by cleaning the fairways as you play please.

I would like to see a final 9. How about some kind of safari layout.
I will admit that I was one of the players in the rec group that took so long last year. For the whole event I think the shorter tees will make for a smoother flow. When the last few rec groups take twice as many throws as the top open groups There is no way not to have a large backup.
Also if I remember correct at Harbin, Temp hole C the down hill with the mando was a major backup, a spotter there would definatly help.
