My friend and I are thinking about traveling from Wisconsin to check out Idlewild for a weekend in the next week or two. Is the course busy during the weekends this time of year? Is there any snow?

Snow is on the ground, we get one nice day followed by 6 days below or at freezing......it's hit or miss, but weather.com is fairly accurate, you won't have to worry about course traffic...

We are fortunate in this area to have a lot of nice courses to choose from, so Idlewild is rarely busy. That, and it is pretty challenging so not many inexperienced players take it on.
There's still a bit of snow but it should be all gone in the next day or two.

If you would like a guide when you come down to play post here and I'm sure someone will be happy to meet up with you and your friend. Also, if you are looking for other course recommendations while you are down here there are several great choices - just ask!

50 degrees this weekend. Unless we get more snow, course will be snow free. Course rarely crowded on non-tourney days.
