I'll be running a second shift from 2P.M to 9P.M on Thursday, so if you can't make the morning come on out during the afternoon. If we get a good turnout, we maybe able to reveal as many as 4 new pin long pin locations, 17 and 18 being the primary goals, with 15 and maybe 7 being attainable if we have good turnout. As Adam said, bring your gloves, I suggest long pants, and boots, we have the rest of the tools to do the job.

Big thank you to everyone that came out and helped out the course, 18's long green is almost finished, and 17's long will be in for the tournament, tonight was the first time that pin has been played. 18's long pin will be a game time decision, if anyone can volunteer tomorrow, we need someone to rake what is cut and if possible, weed whack the rest of the weeds to the left and right of the pin if possible. Text me (513-602-0637) if you can make it out.

Long 17 is cleaned up, easily visible from the tee pad now (unlike on Thursday) and we will be using an elevated temp basket on 18 for the tournament, very close to where the permanent pin will be in the near future. Thanks to everyone who helped claim back these greens back from the woods! We'll be taking signups in the morning so come on out and enjoy the day. The Parks dept. will be selling burgers, dogs, and drinks at the event so bring some pocket money for lunch, proceeds go to the park. Thanks-Drew

Was wondering what par was? Looks like it was 56. Just curious, usually play everything at 54 is par for 18. Played Ossage last week and shot +8, but was counting par as 54.

Careful, par tends to be a contentious subject. 54 is traditionally the 'shorthand' tourney par for most courses, and keeps the mental math simple (for those shooting within a stroke or so of it!) but they did appear to use 56 here. It could've been because the following likely applies to #11 & #16: We have a few courses in town that have holes where 'par 3' isn't realistic (I'm talking to you, Idlewild #6!), and there are times when a real par is needed. For instance, in the rare instance when someone skips or misses a hole, pdga rules say 'par plus four' not 'seven', goes on the card. Anybody else wanna weigh in on this? I'm still a relative noob...

I would be curious to know what holes the 2 extra strokes were assigned to, I'm guessing #16 was a par 4. Only played there once so don't know the other holes that well.

Since Osage is in a unique situation, that it is playable but still under construction. There are different skill levels at play. When finished it will have 3 layouts for Gold(Pro), Blue(Advanced) and Red(Recreational). Until these are all in place and playable we will have to deal with a mixed skill layout. So until then we have been using the Advanced(Blue) Par data, which gives us par 4 on holes 11 and 16 for course par of 56. Please reference the par guidelines image link above.

Every course is designed for a specific skill level for a single tee layout. That is how our sport started, one tee, one pin. As our sport grows and Parks can afford adding other skill level Tees and Pins, as we see in Golf courses with several Tee areas, we will have the luxury of seeing more multiple tee courses so that more people of different skill levels can enjoy the same course.

We all use the par 54 for 18 holes standard as a simple way to add our scores up. That is not what the actual course par will be, some might, but most are not. Course par, put simply, is the expected score for good play for that given skill level in normal conditions.

1st time I have seen the par guidelines. I must say I was very impressed with the course. The holes were a lot of fun and none of them were unfair. I live in N KY, so I don't get out that way too often, but it definitely is right there with the Big 3 courses. The day I played, the course was being mowed, so some of the holes were a little overgrown. However, the holes that were cut were outstanding. Kudos to all the folks who worked so hard to make this course happen, you should be very proud.

Thanks bud, It has taken thousands of volunteer hours and donations to get it to where we are today, with thousands more to come. Very unique situation with a new Park with no funding or employees. The 5 volunteer commissioners have been very helpful and super grateful for all we have been able to accomplish. I can`t wait to see this project finished so everyone can see the full potential finally released. We have plenty off Tee sponsorships available, so please help spread the word...
All the course work has been done by local volunteers, disc golfers and others. Main funding was from the Park and the GCFDA with plenty more to come.

Special shoutout to Kurt Lahm and his family for keeping it mowed and looking great for us.
