I would imagine the weather has a large part to play on the progress of the additional holes. I heard a stat that it rained all but 3 days in April. May is not looking much better. As far as trash goes, I think it's mostly casual players that leave it as well as do damage to the course. Some people just have no respect.

Cool - yeah some people are just dicks and leave garbage around.
I was asking about the course since the BGO is coming up and I know the plan is to utilize those new holes for it. I sure hope that plan comes to fruition.

Due to the setback from the weather I will only be able to use 3 of the 6 originally designed holes for the BGO. The other three will be deucable holes that will be more player friendly and will speed up play and make for less work. The club is letting us use the rubber mats for the event and concrete will come afterwards.

5 of the tee pads and 6 sleeves have been installed at Idlewild. Most of the holes will have 2 pin placements sooner or later. A hole :) will have 2 pin placements by Thursday or Friday. All tees are concrete except for E. It will be a rubber mat until we can build a concrete one(probably not before the BGO). All new letter holes are along the lake(by hole #2 long) and road that you enter the park except for F which follows #4 and throws toward #5's tee. We will try to put the baskets up on Thursday or Friday. Approximate lengths for the six holes are:
A - 360, 420 plays from top of hill after #2 long towards end of lake/side of hill, straight/anhyzer shots. B - 315, plays from bottom/side of hill by road towards corner of roads, straight shot. C - 299, tee off at corner of roads towards swamp across the road, straight/hyzer. D - 285, tee off along the road towards open area past swamp, anhyzer. E - 430, tee off at end of lake towards shelter #3. Shelter not in play. F - 330, see above.

I played the new holes today and thought they were great. Fun par 3s, but no gimmies. Playing around the pond and swamp area just adds to the scenic beauty.

I've been in Northern California for the last five months with my wife who's a travel nurse.(Some excellent courses out here.) Can't wait to get home next week and play Idlewild and the new additions.

Fred did an excellent job with the new holes. Hole F is harder than it looks because of the thick brush but that's what makes it Idlewild.

came up from Louisville to play yesterday and had a blast as always, you all are really keeping the courses looking great and always keeping them challenging, had an awesome drive on the Y hole and was sitting about 30 ft. from the pin after my drive, yet, of course, chickened out and doinked my deuce putt :(

Anybody out there watching the PGA ball golf tournament? Double and triple bogies are happening so frequently, it reminds me of Idlewild. The best players in the world are having a hard time breaking par.

I have sold most of the original tee signs for Idlewild to help pay for astro turf for Idlewild. Would the club consider voting to contribute to the cause?

Hello Fred! hope all is well with you. I was wondering if I can redo the rock wall on hole 9 near the tee pad and also add some landscape. I'm working on building a portfolio and this would be a great addition for me. If you give me the go, I'm confident you will be very impressed with the finished product . I would start on it early spring and should take me a few weeks to complete. would be greatly appreciated...thanks and of course...take care Fred

Check out the new course map of Idlewild on my and the nati disc golf facebook page. I removed the short pin on #6 and will remove short pin on #5 because they were run over by the mowers and destroyed. They will not be replaced. New tee signs for these holes have been installed as well. Also #D has a new pin placement, it's more of an anhyzer, the other pin placement is still there. Projects on the to do list: Steps from #8 basket to bridge, French drain along left side of #10 and #18 fairway to keep them from getting so muddy. If that works I would like to do it at Mt Airy on #15 by the tee. Extending the tee on #16, astro turfing #3 and #16 long. That shoud be enough for this year. A great big thanks to John Carella and Alan Clore for their continued support of Idlewild by collecting the trash buckets and keeping the course clean.

Mike, sorry about not responding to your previous post. If you want to build a wall on #9's tee that will be fine. Let me know if you need anything.

If someone found a drill on #4 last Friday, please post here. It belongs to John "Idlewild" Carella. We were putting up a next tee sign by the basket and ended up hauling a dead stump by the green to the woods then proceeded to walk back to the truck without picking up the drill. Your help would be appreciated. Its and expensive drill. Thanks

I just want to thank and give a shout out to all who bought the old Idlewild tee signs. It payed for a roll of astro turf, 14 x 30 ft, to be used on hole #3 and #16 at Idlewild. We will be installing it as soon as I get one more roll(big greens) and the weather breaks. Thanks again to these generous individuals listed below: Dennis Janney, Boise Disc Golf(Tyler Sparks),Wyatt Hardenberg, Alan Truesdale, Steve Tharp, Nathanial Romans, Chris Fizi, Kris Fowler, Pete Caldwell, Jeff Eades, Capt'n Snap Conger.
Boone County stepped up and is paying for 2 more rolls of astro turf for the greens at Idlewild. We'll be installing them as soon as the weather breaks. Thanks Boone County.

This Tuesday we will be meeting for a round of disc golf at Idlewild. Bob Herbert, co designer of Idlewild will be blessing us with his presence. We will meet at hole 1 at 10:00 am. Immediately following the round we will be installing the astro turf on hole #3. Anyone is welcome to either play, work or both. See you there. Bring your A game.

Played it today. Looks good. Looks like the other greens that were done with astro turf are holding up.
