Last time I drove through I noticed the park had not plowed Pine Ridge road and then I stopped by a few days ago and it was plowed but just one lane wide and they had the entrance blocked off with those barriers they use. I would have to guess that it may be after all this snow is taken care of. Someone will post when they are back in.

Adam, baskets are ready. I will pick them up on Thursday. Not sure when I'll be able to put them up, I don't know my schedule yet and the snow thing. Also it was cheaper than originally estimated, lots. Have you checked into getting new chain assembly for #1 and #3?

Cool Fred thanks for doing the leg work. I can check the park daily for ya to see when you would have access to the course since they have had Pine ridge road closed. Just off the top of my head I believe the mach 3 tops are $250 each, working on that.

I plan on putting the shiny new baskets and chain assembly up this afternoon so the course will be ready for the weekend. A big thanks to the club for paying for the regalvanizing.

Course is back in. Adam, Innova and DGA/Discraft baskets and chain assembly are not interchangeable. Discraft has a smaller inside diameter. FYI - there is still 6 inches of snow on the entire course.

The baskets look really nice, all bright and shiny. I would like to suggest that we all try and stay off any course the next week or so since they all are really saturated with all the snow thaw and now it looks like rain for the whole week. I know its hard not to go and throw a round but think of the damage we all do each time we play in these nasty conditions. Times like these I go and throw in a soccer field and work on knocking the rust off and practice fundamentals,etc..

Adam, that's extreme. Grounds cure themselves fine. This isn't the first winter where we've had soggy grounds and no golf course has ever been permanently damaged because of it.
I'm playing as much golf as I have time and arm for. :)

LoL, grounds cure themselves, not that's extremely funny. I guess all that work the volunteers and park people do each year to keep the grounds looking nice is pointless and not necessary. In that case we would have never lost the use of old holes 7 and 8. (pulled due to accelerated erosion due to foot traffic)
All I was getting at is think of the impact we all have, and try to make rational decisions to create positive outcome rather than a negative one. On a personal note I see playing in bad weather conditions practically course abuse. And if I could I would close courses during extreme weather conditions, yet all our parks are freely open at any time and thus the responsibility relies on ourselves to make the right choice.
You all know by now that I am doing everything and anything that I can to make Mt.Airy the crown jewel of cincy courses. I can't, won't, or want to stop anyone from playing, I would just like to suggest we consider where and when we do.
thanks for posting.

Grounds do cure themselves, otherwise it would all just be mudd... Grass doesnt grow well in woods, on a hill, hince why erosion was ocurring on holes 7 & 8. But out in the open, like number 2 basket, grass will grow, even if there is heavy traffic. I think you bring up a great idea Adam, i just think its a hard sell to people who have been hibernating in there house for the last three months!

The parks dropped some mulch this week and gave me 3 wheelbarrows to use as well. I will be out Saturday and Sunday if anyone feels energetic. If you have a snow shovel bring it, it works best for shoveling mulch. Noonish.

Looks like it's going to be too wet for this weekend. I'll get it done sometime next week when it dries up a little.

As of today the weatherman is fairly sure the rain will hold off till after noon. We should be rain free for this event.
So far Jerry and a couple others have told me they will be there to help. Please contact me if you plan on coming and help spread the word to those that don't know about the Clean-up. I will be contacting the Park today to get the supplies we need for Saturday.
