Call me when you are going out there Craig. I could bring tools and a laborer. Can you give out a park receipt for volunteer work?

What time on Wednesday?
Would it be too late to get the park to provide some crushed limestone? We could bring some wheelbarrows and address some of the tees and paths.

That would be wensday the 18th sorry. And Chris I'll try but no promises. And as far as time goes I'd say all day. Bill wants to make a work day out of it 8-5.?.?. But for the rest that want to help, sleep in a little I'd say 10 or 11. If ya gotta work come out afterwards.

Hey Chris...
I should have been a little more clear in my earlier message. I was at work until 5, and had to make that post from my cell phone. I called Craig after work, on my way towards Pride, and the work crew kinda fell through.
It's probably going to be a better idea to try this on a weekend - most likely between Turkey day and Santa time. Less tournaments, no work on weekends.
I hope the parks can help us with the major structures at Pride, but Craig knows more about the parks dept. in Taylor Mill than I.
As soon as Craig gets his internet up I'm sure he will update this thread.
Chris, PM me your cell number.

Back at work where I can finally post. The so called work day fell through from all sides. The couple of phone #'s I had, I knew those people were backing out. Went out there and nobody showed up. No disc golfer and no park guy. Took the opertunity and made a list of stuff I want to get done this winter. (beside redesign) If anybody did show and I already left, Sorry. If anybody would like something to do or would like to meet me out there just call me. 859-743-9427

me and Magoo played pride on thursday was a wreck hole 3 has a cemetary running thru it now, hole 7 has a gigantic tree crossing the fairyway, hole 9's basket is uprooted and been dragged about 60 feet from original placement, also once finished with hole 9 there is hardley a path to get to hole 10, it's grown up, and once you get to hole 10 you really don't know you are there unless you know the course, the bridge to hole 11 is unsafe. I love to play this course especially this time of year, its ashame the parks have let it go.

My question is: Is this a park matter or is it something the club should take care of? We want a disc golf course at Pride but the parks can't maintain it, they have proven that. Now do we step up and take over or do we leave it and move on to other disc golf courses. There is way too much work to be done out there to make it a safe and fun place to play. Personally I don't have the time and don't really care and it's obvious the parks don't care so I say let's go where we can get some cooperation from the parks cause we damn sure can't do it alone. What do you think?

If we can get the baskets back I think Freddy is right. As nice as a course like Idlewild is, it's a special place with a huge undertaking that has to take place when major things get done. I think that if we had to take care of every place like we did Idlewild, we might only have 3 courses instead of the 20+ we have now. If the park dept is unwilling to work with us then we should try to work with one that will. As much as I hate to see Pride go, I guess we have no alternative. Different groups at different times have tried to go out there and work, but if the park isn't going to be able to even mow it, then what? If we can get the baskets then I'm sure we could find another park that would be willing to put in a course where most of the expense is already taken care of.

Sounds like we've already shut the course down. Let's see what happens this winter and we'll go from there. Maybe we can do some redesigning and salvage disc golf at pride.

Yes-I totally agree, this park kick's,it just needs someone to help mantain it!!If we had people care half as much as Idlewild this might not be in the shape it's in now,(of coarse minus the things we can't control, cemetery). We need some days like Fred points out when the brush is already beat down,to go in there and wack some weeds and trees without our disc's!!!Let me know,BigBoy has a mighty chain-saw!!

I talked to the park supervisor Wednesday and he said he plans on getting something done out there this winter. I told him that we will try to redesign the course so that he won't have to build the big bridge to cross to #11 and #12 and he was happy about that. We'll check it out and see what we can come up with. More later.
