Sunday is looking like a really nice day for December. Anyone up to playing a round? I'm thinking Airy, but it is not set in stone. Say around 1:00 in the afternoon.

I thought I was. I just got a call from my brother this morning, he has two tickets to todays Bungals game. Although they may lose, it will still be a fun time down at the field. I will miss the round today, but I look forward to meeting up later and playing a round.

Saturday December 27 at Monroe. It's supposed to be like 60 degrees. Probably noonish. I'll pick a definite time tomorrow.

Sunday December 28th at Ferry Park in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. If you need a place to stay I have room at my condo in Destin, Florida. I'll be setting up my temp baskets on the pitch & Putt course at the condo the rest of the week with the average hole of 65 yards, strategically placed palm trees and near the sand trap berms for easy rollaways. If warm enough I'll set up a few 3 mile long Big D bombs on the sugar white beaches and show off to the old folks.

We've got 50s and windy here. It made it up to 70 Saturday. I've got the courses to myself so I can throw the majority of my bag and be pissed off ten times about my shot on each hole.

The Story of the Big Fish & The Small Pond: More like the little fish in a mud hole but I digress. I came to a city that has just embraced Disc Golf with love, respect and simple awe. Where the course is barely in the ground and you see fathers playing with teenage sons, where middle aged couples have 5 discs each and hold hands between holes, where kids on the play grounds of seemingly too close design to the golf holds move to the side when they see you approach and watch you tee off, where people on winding walking paths smile and wave you on and comment on your shot. I'm at a loss for words. I'm at a course that is designed so poorly in the fact that it has tees pointing toward play ground equipment, almost every shot is over a walking path...a busy walking path, and many errant shots go over fences of neighboring yards...where the 80 yr old woman will retrieve your disc for you and ask how your game is going....all these negatives and the park is an almost bewildering blissness of unadulterated Disc Golf love. In surfing terms you have the 'shedders' and the 'soul surfers'...and this my friend is a Disc Golf park full of 'Soul Discers'.

I've had to keep my mouth shut many a time. The first round I found some local guys and had them show me their course. They play every single day...sometimes 7-8 rounds a day for the last 6 months. At first I thought they were being sarcastic..but I quickly learned that with no local pros in the area...I was the best they've seen. Here I was angry that I shot a -3 at a Woodland Mound difficulty course...I took a 5 and two 4's on some idiotic throws....and I equaled their best scores...with their foot wedges...with their falling putts..and me being militant about my own form. The crowds...the WOWS...the AHHSSSS!....the people watching me throw a Challenger a mere 217 feet for a park job on a tight wooded fairway. The stunned faces when I take a Buzzz up the middle for a bounce off the cage on a 260 ft straight ace run. The full pull of 336 ft park job on their longest hole...down wind with an XL. Just for giggles I parked a 309ft hole with a forehand roller and even showed them a backhand roller on the same hole. They got to see a thumber, tommy, and even an overhand pancake when I was tail deep to an elephant in the thick stuff. Second round a -7 and I was still reflecting my anger inward and smiling to the folks on the outside. Every hole is Deuceable. I have a -10 or a -11 in me before this trip is done. Next trip...I bring one of you guys down to really show them how this game can be played.

Big Tad Pole in the Little Mudhole out....

That could have easily been the coldest I've ever been playing Disc Golf. Sure..I've played in colder temps..and I've played in the snow...and I've played in the wind...but the combination we had tonight was just down right icetesticles. I feel sorry for my partner Colin. I opened some hand warmers..and they simply never warmed up...ever. They must have been punctured before and ran out of heat last week. To not be able to grip a disc in 20F temps with the wind screaming the way it was those last holes...It was just crazy. I did have fun though.

As you have seen, Andrew, my upshots and putting just plain suck. I have a real accuracy and judging distance problem on 100'ish shots; the ones that are too far to putt, but not far enough for a full throw. I will be way off on my upshot, leave myself a long putt, pitch it over the top of the basket, then doink it off the front on my second putt.

I think I'm going to become a dedicated forehand approacher. I can't do short backhands.

Yessir. What day you goin? If I go again between now and Saturday, I'd prefer to go in the morning. It's too far from my house to just play one or two rounds. Got to make a day of it.

I'll probably go Thrusday then if I can. If you happen to find a light blue teebird in the shule about pin high on the left side of hole 13, it was mine. I don't know why I couldn't find it. I looked until it got dark.

Oh, and I've got to watch those OB roads.  I think I threw on or over every one of them today while I was there.  I think I'll just idiot proof it and throw my predator on all the OB on the right holes.
