I guess Fred got tired of area disc golfers not doing much out at Idlewild - had the Jail Work Crew out there today putting up the tent for this weekend! Way to go Fred. Put those guys to work. I kept a good eye on my discs while I was around them though. :) The course is really looking good. I might be able to make it this weekend. Not for sure yet, but there is now a possibility where once there was none.

Hey RBFAUL and any other potential workers, We will be at Idlewild Thurday (tomorrow) doing some work on the course. If you show up your help can be well utilized and much appreciated. Hope to see you there. Fred will be on a riding mower supplied by the Park and some other folks will likely be in the creek valley - probably on hole # 16 putting in some O.B. stakes. Talk to Fred about helping during the tourney. Thanks for the helpful attitude.

What kind of supplies/tools should I bring?

Fred, do you have enough volunteers yet such as people who will be at the tent to take last minute sign-ups (Saturday from 7:30 to 8:30am) and do you have anyone to stay at the tent durimg the rounds and let would-be casual golfers (or Park users looking for a tent) that a tournament is going on -- and also to be there when lunch is delivered? it will be a nice shady place to view each card tee-off on hole 1...

I'm going out there tonight (Wed) with weedeater to get around trees on holes 2, 3, 10, and any other places that I might find wandering around. Most of the time I will spend on the mentioned holes.

Hey RBFAUL, If you can bring a mower or weed eater you could work on roughs near closely knit trees that Fred will not likely be able to mow with the 42" riding mower he will be using. Just be careful "not" to mow the grass too low (scalping) or damage the bark of trees (girdling). Thanks! You go Kevin B.!!!!

I'll trade you hours, Joe. I'll take 8-5 m-f, and you can have whenever to late 6 days a week, including both weekend days.

Looking at the score I can't get the under par and the scores figured out. I might just be retarded but what did you all play. Shorts Longs?

Round 1: Shorts par 67 (Longs par minus 5 holes) Round 2: Longs par 72 Round 3: Longs par 72
for R1, a 1000 rated round was 64 (shorts) for R2, a 1000 rated round was 70 (longs) for R3, a 1000 rated round was 69 (longs)
we had rain in R2 (and some in R1)
... all divisions played the same layout each round ...
SSA from the shorts for Idlewild is anywhere form 5 to 6 strokes easier than longs and Idlewild is a Gold level course designed for 1000 rated players... i know it used to be considered 69 from the shorts but that was when there were only 3 shorts so rather than make the Longs a par 74 with the new 2 and 16 long it makes more sense to make the shorts par 67 (that way 72 is closer to the SSA for the longs which i believe was the design goal).
one interesting thing to note: Sue Stephens shot a 30 on the back 9 (shorts) during R1!

It sucks when you put your heart and soul into something and have someone disresepect it. FYI Russ did post an apology. Hopefully this will at least be a step toward mending fences. http://www.pdga.com/msgboard/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=TournamentInfo&Number=547310&page=0&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=&fpart=4

I would like to thank Fred and all those he mentioned, plus, an extra special thank you to Missy for caddying for me during most of the last round when I shot a personal best 65 at Idlewild longs. Keith, you should marry her as soon as possible! She is a sweetheart.

Thanks too to J.P. Mayer for helping out by uncovering the long pins and covering the short ones in between rounds on Saturday and also for helping check scorecard math with Keith and Missy. Brad your being there Saturday morning was a huge help (i wasn't expecting to be the one [hello ] there greeting entrants & taking sign-ups) -- without you showing up to help out with other details i probably would have imploded :vomit
Thanks also to Fred's neighbor Dan K for printing out the programs we made. Great job!
...thanks also to anyone else who helped out that we forgot to mention...
Fred, you are da man!
It was also a huge treat playing rounds with Johnny Sias, Steve Orlando, Dean Tannock, Bob Herbert, Darren Harper, and Alan Schack, even though i didn't play the Longs very well this weekend! Masters rock! :band1
