18 hole discgolf course on the East side?!?!?!
Would like everyone to know that there will be a board meeting at:
9/5/2006 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM ET (Trustee Meeting) Trustee Meeting
Regularly scheduled Trustee Meeting.
7:00 PM at the Miami Township Administration Building
5900 McPicken Drive, Milford OH 248-3725
There are 8 people so far (4 locally) that are willing to help out and propose a course at Miami Meadows in Milford. The park is on the East side, located 5 minuets off the 275 Milford/Blanchester exit. This is an excellent opportunity for another very nice course on the East side. I know Williamsburg is now or will be a 18, and now we could add to that. any questions: please send a post. Thanks and please help support...

Williamsburg does have some nice "RAW'" hilly woods to cut out some really great, tight holes.
What kind of land is available for the course you speak of?

I'm new to the GCFDA so a big hello to everyone... Miami Meadows, if I'm thinking of the right place off of S.R. 131, is really flat with huge power lines overhead, buuut I sure would like a course that is 5 minutes away from me. I wish I could make it to the meeting, but I'll be out of the state. I hope it goes well and I hope we get a challenging course on the east side! Who is planning the course?

What? No guesses? Ok, some hints: Miami Meadows will not fall into this category but Monroe likely will, it has nothing to do with amenities or park location.

Actually, I think those four courses were built WITHOUT GCFDA help.

Neither was Whitewater, Woodland, and several others. Colerain did have GCFDA help.

I have a son who is looking to do an Eagle project in the next year. Anyone associated with this group could you contact me at mikejenkins1@hotmail.com? He loves to play frisbee golf and wants to see about getting a project where he could help in the design/creation of a course if possible. Any ideas for when this course would be built?

Nah, I was reading an old thread mentioning new baskets being put in at winton... But that made me wonder if they all have their original course layout/design?

Congratulations Rod figured it out. Found it rather curious that so many of our courses tend towards the counter-clockwise flow. Noticed it in discussing the change of flow out at Williamsburg to counterclockwise. It's a conspiracy!

More trivia.....
The Course page shows that construction on Winton Woods began in 1981. If you were sneaking a round during that constuction....and I know some of you were...which six (6) of the discs listed below COULD you have been carrying. From the best info I can find, there are only six in this list.

I played a hundred or so rounds at Woodland Mound in 1981 - but didn't know the little golf discs existed for a couple more years...so we played with 119's and 141's with lots of pennies taped to the bottom for extra distance!

I tried to log on last night. Just too busy. Fred did get 3 right. The Professional (first released in 1964), Puppy (1980), and Midnight Flyer (1980) were all available in 1981. He correctly bypassed the Eagle (1982), Aero (1983), and P38 (1984). The Pluto Driver and the Nighthawk were a dirty trick as they were both approved by the PDGA in the last six months (2006). The other three were the Skystar and the Ultra Star (Original Discraft from 1981) and the Floater (1979 made by the same company that made the Puppy).
Are some of these fake? Never heard of these... Floater - Stamped by a company called Dynamic Discs. From the description, it should look like a Super Nova or Ultra Star. More than likely an Ultimate disc. Gopher - A mid-90's offering from Innova that might have looked like a Scorpion. I might have to ask someone about this one. Professional - From Wham-O. I bought my first one back in 74 or 76. Had I been to Winton in 1981, A Moonlighter Pro (glow) would have been my choice. Skystar - Original Discraft. Not knowing anything about Discraft, this might have been their first attempt at a golf disc. It is slightly smaller than their first Ultimate (Ultra Star) and Freestyle (Sky-Styler) discs.

Rod, the Gopher is a smaller version of the Zepher, which is mainly used for the game of accuracy in the frisbee world.

The gopher was a pure guess on my part. The only disc I've ever thrown from the early 90's was a beat up scorpion.
I only threw it once.
