So from what I read, it appears that this park is built and active.
Anyone give any reviews of the park?

Yes, the park is built and active. Great course. Not particularly long, but, very narrow and lots of elevation changes. Still needs some cleanup work as far as honeysuckle goes, but, it's a blast to play. Lefties, bring your sidearm and overhand throws, because, it's all-righty, all-the-time.

Sidearm only helps lefties if it's the BEST shot in your bag....

Dan H and Dave (LEFTY) has givin me a list to help me make the course a little more lefty freindly and balance out some of the holes without changing the challanging course that it is. I will try to work on some of this before the deuce or die and course challange. Any lefties willing to give me some time are more than welcome. I KNOW KAPGUN IS IN!!!!

i am in chicago today and tommarrow... i will be there sunday to work and play off and on all day long.. something to work on right now would be the left side of hole 2 and 3 and it may take some serious work...the park is going to be working on the course all week long. mostly laying wood chips in fairway pulling honeysuckle stumps and gravel around all baskets. they said they are going to dedicate 7 or 8 guys to the course on thursday and friday. weather permitting....should be very sweet come course challange day

I cleared honeysuckle and cut the poison ivy growing around the trees on 10's fairway. Pulled the cut brush down near the parking lot, so, hopefully the park will pick that up. Also, cut a lefty route on hole 2. The park planted grass seed and put down straw in spots on holes 1-6 and 10's teepad. Also, they put down sod around 23 and 24's tee pad. It looks like the park really wants this course to be nice. Ken, if you could talk to the park, there is a lot of poison ivy growing along the left side on hole 23. It'd be nice if they could spray that.

Concrete tee pads are in, not exactly sure what could be done at this point. Example: Hole 14 had sort of a lefty fairway cut out in the woods, now the tee pad's poured out in the open, brutally righty friendly.
Because of the slope of the hillside, the only way to balance it would be to reverse the direction of most of the course, obviously not going to happen.
It is a wonderfully laid 24 hole course built in the dense woods, even if only for 90% of the disc golf community....
Okay, if you could shave the left side of the fairways of holes 3 and 8, that might be a tiny help.

So what is it about the 24 hole lay out that is so attractive? I don't get it. I barely have time to play 18 holes much less 24.

For tournaments it is nice to have 96 players and foursomes. Otherwise, 18 is just right- its nice to have the option of going the extra 6 or not like at Hudson Mills both courses. This course doesn't seem very long at Monroe. How long does 24 holes take there?

My guess is, the 24 at Monroe takes about 15-20 minutes less than the short course at Idlewild.

First time I played it, was in a 2some. Only took 2 hours, I was walking and spotting the basket too.

Played two rounds with one other player this morning in four hours. It was our first time at the course and we did spend some time looking for a lost disc.

We played this course over the weekend, it was a nice course. Pretty smart design work to fit this into the area that was available. A lot of the holes have been carved out of the woods, so it can be a bit challenging at times. All and all, it was a good outing. We did it as part of a double-header with the Turtlecreek course.

For anyone going out to Monroe there still some Poison Ivy in the woods so you might want to wear some long pants I got hit pretty bad with poison ivy from playing there last Saturday.

Fatty, you probably got the poison ivy from scurrying up that tree. :-) there are poison ivy vines everywhere, and lots of poison ivy along the edges of the fairways.

Looking to play here for the first time tonight.
I usually bring a map to a new course, but my printer is down... is it easy to follow the course without a map? Or should I draw myself a quick sketch?
Also, how crowded does it tend to get around 5pm?

You will not need a map...clearly marked. Just know that hole 1 starts at the little log cabin and you will be fine. The park is in full swing so the crowds from soccer and baseball get thick.. but at 5 you should be OK. See ya there tonight!!!!

Course was extremely well-marked, we had no problems whatsoever.
That was a pretty interesting course. Banged up quite a few of my discs on trees, but discs were easy to find in general if even if they went a ways into the tree line. A few of those holes seem impossible to get through unscathed without a bit of luck. I guess I should be happy because I don't have a long drive, so it evens the playing field a bit. ;)
What kind of scores are people shooting out of curiosity? At the other courses I play I try to shoot for the advanced/novice border that you guys have listed in the course area (which is a really nice touch, by the way), as I feel that is a good stepping stone for me right now, but I have no sense of how I ended up playing today. It felt pretty good (for me), but I was just curious what others are shooting.
I finished with an 89 (I had a 65 after 18 holes).
