I think the "Greater Cincinnati" distinction is necessary to include Northern Kentucky, which is definitely part of the club.
I like the idea of including the website name somewhere in the logo, even if it's in small print at the bottom....

One thing I know we don't have that most other clubs do is Mini's. I find myself using c-bus, dayton and louisville logo'ed minis a lot.
Also it took me a while to figure out and remember what GCFDA stood for.

We talked about this briefly at the meeting and didn't really come to any final conclusions, I think we can all agree that there is a need to keep the "Greater Cincinnati" wording, here are some potential problems with changing the name: 1. We would have to re-apply with the Secretary of State as a registered organization (I think, can't find a name change form off of the brief search I just did) 2. We would have to order new stickers for the club members (the blue and yellow oval), as they refer to the GCFDA 3. We would have to order a new banner.... All this adds up to spending money. I understand the connection between the website and the club name, however, a website domain name doesn't necessarily have to be the club/business name, right? For instance, the Columbus Flyers Disc Golf Club's website is www.columbusdiscgolf.com, my work's website isn't my organization's name. I guess this shows my side of the argument, I understand both sides, but I don't see the necessity in changing the name of the club, maybe just including it on stickers, or minis or whatever. And I would agree with Craig that we need to do something to promote the club, such as ordering minis, I would also like to pursue the idea brought up sometime ago about ordering Dry-Wick polos with the club logo/website/whatever on the sleeve/back/whatever and possibly use this as a method of fundraising.

That makes perfect sense to me Liz.
I think if we actually advertised a GDFCA logo on the front page it would be more recognizable. That will be something included on the site update.
I'd be reluctant to try to fit too much on to a logo though. Having the text "Greater Cincinnati Flying Disc Association" and "CincinnatiDiscGolf.com" is too much in my opinion.

Let's register gcfda.com in case we want to use it for logos. It's available and it's easier to type although possibly harder to remember. We can keep both domains though, and have them go to one website, there's no problem with that.

Ok, I registered it under my name for now. I'll just sit on it for now until we get a new website to point it to.

Does anyone have a new logo to post yet? I am enjoying the work of the few artist in the club. Give me more!

That one sort of looks like a family crest. Maybe add a lion's head in there somewhere. :smile

Yeah it was intended to like a family coat of arms....... do you think we could get that registered somewhere as the GCFDA family coat of arms? lol

Do a web search on CDGA...
Chicago District Golf Association Coulter Disc Golf Association etc.
Yes "Greater Cincinnati..." is a bit wordy. Changing the club's name just for the sake of it doesn't make sense unless there are some viable alternatives that these folks have in mind? On the other hand, nothing wrong with having an additional logo.
The polo idea is great. I must wear a collared shirt to work and this would give me the ability to show it off it there. Could possibly incorporate some town colors like orange & black, red & white, red & black, etc.

I do agree that the GCFDA is wordy and a tongue twister. I would also like to see our name shortened to a 4 letter acronym(sp?). Change is always difficult but I believe we can manage.
How about GCDA or GCFD. Lets just think of all the possiblities and keep our minds open.

What about NAMBLA? Although, girls wouldn't be able to join that one.

My, my Brandon are you a member-the Man or Boy? Ann Arbor has A(cubed)DISC standing for Ann Arbor Area Disc Induced Spots Club. Maybe CFDA?

Okay Brandon, you got me...not sure what your acronym stood for...not really sure if I want to know. BUT - I thought we ended the debate about changing the club name, it really isn't THAT big of a deal - we would have to change a lot of stuff to just drop one letter, I just don't see the justification. We are only doing a contest for the club logo, right now. So, let's see some more, we have a couple days of rain in our near future...perfect time to be stuck inside working on a design.

I agree. It's not worth changing the name. I just refer to it as the Cincinnati Disc Golf Club anyways, and everyone knows what I'm talking about. The official name doesn't matter a whole lot. And NAMBLA stands for North American Man/Boy Love Association. It was made famous from a South Park episode. And from a Google search, it appears that it's actually a real organization which really is a bit scary. www.nambla.orgMore logos coming soon.
