So who is running the piggy in 2008? Just thought I would throw it out there for discussion.

Nope - he said that on the board here.
I think Kevin B is ready to run the show. That would get my vote. Or Liz.

I have not thrown my hat in the ring yet but am not opposed to do so. I just wanted to see what everyone thought about the PIG in 2008 and make sure that everyone understood that Pete is not repeating as tournament host. Pete, thank you for your years of service.

Anyone have any ideas for the 2008 PIG? Fundraising tournaments, basket throw-offs, tee sponsorship, and corporate sponsors? No matter who runs the PIG we need to start working on this stuff now so the PIG will continue to get better. We need to think of this as a tournament run by the club not the TD. Lets all get involved so this will be the best PIG ever, well untill 2009.

I like your idea of thinking of the PIG as a club ran event. IMO it puts less pressure on one person. The responsibilities can be split up among club members.

Adam, are you still up for collecting holes sponsorships for Airy and Harbin. If so put me down for 18 at Harbin and Alex for hole A at Harbin.

Anyone that thinks they might be able to get a corporate sponsor let me know and I will start a list of sponsors that we are working on and who is working it. Call me at my cell 513-520-1432 John Kuhns or email me at pdga17301@hotmail.com or send me a private message via message board. Just get ahold of me so we can stay organized and so two people don't call on the same possible sponsor opportunity. If we got a sponsor last year lets try for them again this year. When you talk to them ask them how the sponsorship helped them out last year. If they say it didn't try to figure out how we could help them out. Maybe it could be an opportunity to get a website sponsor if they will not do the PIG. If you have anything call me and lets talk about it. Evenings are better for me but if you need to call in the day that is fine to. Later, kuhns

I think you shoud hit up that mexican restaurant(Cancun) on 127 for sponsorship. We brought it to their attention last year but didn't follow up on it. We always go there for dinner after the Tuesday Ace funds at Harbin. Maybe have the awards there or switch locations and play Harbin on Saturday and Airy on Sunday and go there after the hot second round on Saturday for a cold pitcher of Dos Equis cerveza. Hans mouth is watering, I know. The key is to patronize their establishment once they commit to sponsorship.

Great idea Fred. I will hit them up and see what they can do. In the past what have we asked for from restaurants such as Cancun. Any ideas?

For corporate sponsors, why don't we put together a letter from the club. We can state the obvious... what we are about for the community, success stories, and what their sponsorship means to us. We can target some specific sponsors around the areas, but then we can also send them out to larger corps around the community.
Don't forget that little stand by Airy (Creamy or something). They have great footlong chilli dogs!

I don't think a letter to a large corporation will work. We need to get names and numbers and call them and then schedule an appointment and go in and talk to them. Don't get me wrong, I am not against sending a letter out and then calling them but I doubt a letter will generate a phone call to us about sponsorship of the PIG. Just so you know, we can get company information from the Harris directory at any local library. It will have address, phone, contact information, and what type of work they do.
Pete, what kind of information do you have for sponsorship?

I have talked with Mr. Jones today and he and I are going to be running the PIG in 2008 as long as we don't have any nay-sayers. We would like to form the "PIG counsel" to help in preparing the PIG for August play. Lets make this a team effort. All volunters are welcome. Any more ideas out there? keep them coming. Any advice, any help, big or small we will take it all. Pete, I know you have plenty of advice so bring it on.
My hat is officially in the ring!

The Pig Cousil has started its weekly/biweekly (have not made up mind yet) this last weekend. We are also meeting next Sunday at Adam Jones house to kick ideas around. If you are interested in attending please give me a call. 513-520-1432. We would love to have you! We have started organizing ideas, goals, and possible sponsor opportunities for the PIG for 2008. We have a grand start with exciting possiblities. Now all we have to do is bring it all together and make it happen. Turn our ideas into reality. We should also have an outline together for the meeting on 12/10. Thanks for listening and let me know if you are interested in helping and in what capacity you would like to help. Also Adam Jones is signing up hole sponsors and we will have this together for the meeting as well so if you are interested in sponsoring a hole bring some cash and know what hole you want. Thank you for all your support and I look foward to promoting the PIG in 2008.

Obviously there's some tradition with this tournament, and it won't have any trouble filling as usual, but any chance of adding a 2nd am division this year?
