Has anyone ever thought of getting the upstairs at Barleycorn's Five Mile House for a meeting?

My brother works at that Barleycorns. I personally wouldn't be there but I could ask about it. Probably wouldn't be a problem, except they normally have music going on in there. If it held on of the warmer weather meeting, they have a huge outdoor patio. I guess then your hoping it don't rain. If this summer's anything like last years, the forecast looks good.

Congrats to the new officers:
Pres: Liz VP: Marlow Sec: Brad Anderson Tres: Pete
It's just a shame the award wasn't there to present to him. I guess the presenter was too busy kicking it up a notch... Very funny Nick. I had to make the donuts and my work schedule doesn't always jive with my disc golf schedule, you know how that goes. I don't remember voting for volunteer of the year at the last meeting. I assumed the club officers were in charge of that, they did it the last couple of years. Nothing against Kap - Gun but Liz should have gotten it this year, she was a very busy girl.

Way to go Kapgun. I think kapgun was more than deserving. Liz was honored for her hard work and committment with the Presidency. We're all very proud of both of you.

Yes, congrats Brian, and to '08 officers Liz, Dave M, Pete, and Brad. I think it will be a great combination of proven experience and fresh new ideas!

Since Nick hasn't chimed in and no one I've talked to can recollect anyone being nominated for volunteer of the year at the last meeting, I nominate Kap-gun and Liz to get the award. Any seconds?

Kap-Gun was nominated earlier in the year. I'm sure Dave can account for it in his notes. Let it go Fred. There is always more than one deserving candidate. Dave Wright is just as deserving as anyone. Same goes for about ten other members of this club.

We also voted on a new club logo - submitted by Mike Kemner - here is an updated version of the original one to reflect more of the Nasty Nati' - ness. Congrats Mike, for his hard work and creativity, he gets a lifetime membership!!! Thanks to everyone else who submitted and came to the meeting - 2008 will be a great year for disc golf in the Greater Cincinnati area!

I heard a great idea at the last meeting...
Why don't we meet somewhere centrally all the time, like the library. They have rooms that you can get without cost. That way we can talk with out the loud bar sounds, etc.
It would also allow for more people to make meetings if they work on the opposite side of town and cannot drive to the other side in time...

thats all well and good, but I think the beers available at various establishments around town make the meeting rotation quite popular.

Brad, that was a suggestion I had thrown around at one time. I just think having meetings in Florence/etc. is extremely difficult for those who work/live in northern Cinti, I also understand the reasons for supporting a possible sponsor. So, I suppose we should discuss it - I was thinking if we reserved a room at a library - say in Blue Ash or someplace in the middle, it would be fair to all and quiet. Thoughts/comments/suggestions??
Remember - Gaehl - you aren't even a member of the club. :shame

Liz, isn't yours and Ben's house sort of the epicenter of the Greater Cincinnati disc golf community? .... P.S. Good zinger on Sweetriver.

Liz, I know who threw it out... I just wanted to get it public...
I am with ya with having to drive all the way to Florence. I also think that if someone in Lebanon wanted to host that those in NKY would have a hard time getting there...

Here is a link to The library's locations/phone #'s etc.: http://www.cincinnatilibrary.org/info/locations.aspIt would be nice to have quiet, non-competitive conversations where everyone in attendance could hear one another. I know # 31 in Pleasant Ridge has meeting rooms.

Well, in that case, the main Library downtown would be the most centrally located. It's 25 minutes or less from everywhere in Greater Cincy, open until 9pm on Mondays, and it has plenty of free parking on the street all around the building after 6pm. Looks like we would qualify for free use of a meeting room since we would be classified as a social organization. The largest of three rooms holds 34 people, with a hall that holds 100, if needed. Of all the club meetings to use a venue like the library, February's seems the most important. No alcohol allowed, Sweetriver (and me), but there is no shortage of pubs within walking distance of the Library. Thanks for the info, Bob.

Steve, I believe you would need to go a little further north to be centrally located.

John, I live in West Chester, it's 25 minutes to the river for me.... Whatever, maybe Clifton, or a little further up off I-75 or I-71, as long as they have a room that holds enough people. No sponsorship opportunities though, the rules indicate that you can't promote anything in the meeting rooms.

This is a great idea... I wish someone would have heard me say this 3 years ago!
Oh wait, it was probably too loud, or maybe the people in charge were talking to their waitress, or singing German fest-songs, or watching MNF, or MTV Cribs, or were checking out a Reds game, or.....
Downtown is pretty centrally located I'd think. And the parking advantages after 6 take most of the challenges away for the people that don't often travel down there.

Keith, I had posted a question about the PDGA affliation before the holiday and it got lost with the transferring of the website host - any updates on the affliation? I'd like to renew through the club, just wondering, let me know if you need help with anything to get this going.

It's nice for those of us who come to the meetings straight from work to be able to order dinner.
