From Kenton County Parks!

February 23 – Banklick Woods Disc Golf Course Clean-Up! Here’s an opportunity to give back to the sport you love! We’ll walk the disc golf course and pick up litter and pile sticks and blowdowns and create “rabbit-tat”. Sticks, loosely piled make great habitat for small birds and mammals, even snakes! If we make homes for the middle of the food chain, hopefully, we’ll bring in some of what is now the top of the food chain: hawks, owls, and falcons. Every time I hear an owl a’hootin’, I get a thrill. Meet at Shelterhouse 1 at 10:00 am and we will work til noon. Trash bags and gloves will be provided. Rain or shine – a couple of hours in a drizzle won’t kill you! Free KCP&R t-shirts for all volunteers!!! Call (859) 525-PLAY (7529) and let me know you’ll be there to help!

I had e-mailed him when I first saw that date but it was probably too late at that time. I will call him first next year when I'm doing the Icebowl schedule. I didn't realize they would be doing something that early - my bad.

He said it is no big thing as our golfers usually clean the course as they play anyhow and that this is just to help Spring cleaning along.

Here's a note from Steve for those who would like to participate and can't or don't want to participate in the Icebowl. Thanks to Steve for all his support of disc golf and work at the park for disc golf and other things, too. He does a great job.

Greetings – Yeah, I know. There’s an Ice Bowl that day. Sorry, my calendar was completed in November. Anyway, for those of us NOT playing in an Ice Bowl, here’s the scoop:

Great! I'll be there. Is Shelterhouse 1 the shelter in the back by the tee for hole 4)? If there are enough people helping, is the plan to shot a round afterwards?

The course is so much better with the mulch on the greens, saved me at least three stokes today. Im sure there laying for the tourny this weekend but it saved me today. And the water is down on the lake across the street for any one wanting a disc back.

Thanks Dozzer. Has anyone found either a white bar stamp Special Edition T-Bird or an orange Star Valk? Please let me know.

Been playing Ones tee to Twos basket, How many extra feet do you guys think that is my guess is about 55. Just wondering i hate that hill and its a much harder three, does take away to possible birds. To Bird those two is very rare for me, but it sometimes happens.

The rocks at the ends of some of the tee pads look pretty good. #1 #2 #20 etc. But the chopped tree on #4 does seem a little extreme. way too easy for an acey or doucey. But, it does make you feel better!

I played Banklick this weekend for the first time in a while. Since when has the basket on #5 been replaced by a log with a drawing on top?

Can the club go ahead and set some money aside for a legal fund just in case one of us catches someone stealing baskets or destroying the course...and we have a temporary loss of restraint and snap?...just kidding....

Course Cleanup day March 21st!

March 21 ~ Lincoln Ridge Disc Golf Course Clean-Up Day! The Lincoln Ridge (formerly Banklick Woods) Disc Golf Course Clean-Up Day has been set for Saturday, March 21. Meet at Shelterhouse 1 at 10:00 am. Trash bags and gloves will be provided and all volunteers will earn Kenton County Parks & Recreation t-shirts! We will walk the disc golf course fairways and rough and pick up litter. We will pile sticks and blowdowns and create “rabbit-tat”. Sticks, loosely piled, make great habitat for small birds and mammals, even snakes! If we make homes for the middle of the food chain, hopefully, we’ll bring in some of what is now the top of the food chain: hawks, owls, falcons, and foxes. Plan to work until noon. Trash bags and gloves will be provided. Rain or shine – a couple of hours in a drizzle won’t kill you! Bring your plastic – golf discs, that is; we know you’ll want to get in a round or two later! Call and let me know you’ll be there to help! Call (859) 525-PLAY (7529) for details. Lincoln Ridge Park is easy to find! The address is 420 Independence Station Rd. , Independence , KY 41051 . From I-75, take the Florence/Union exit. Go east to the 2nd stop light at Industrial Road . Turn right and go to 1303/Turkeyfoot Road. Turn right and go one-half mile to Independence Station Road (just past the Sunoco Food Mart). Turn left and go two miles to the park. The park will be on your left. We’ll be set up in Shelterhouse 1. Or, from I-275, take the Turkeyfoot Road exit and go south about six miles to Independence Station Road . Turn left and go two miles to the park.

Congrats on the clean up. Course looks fresh and crisp. I can't wait to throw the massive D this weekend after the rain stops. My buddy Cool Mo D will be out so if you're looking for a challenge look him up. Peace

Those are old. Anyone have a suggestion for what the ratings should be?
