So who is running this gig? I am asking because I think we'll need a lot of preparation work for all the people that are going to show. 6 holes were added last year for 24 total. We'll probably need to do that again this year. We may need even more. I played there on Saturday, and noticed a couple of new things from last year for those not aware:
Hole #2: The pin is on the very edge of a new gravel parking lot. The hole may need replaced.
Hole #7: The original tee location is playable again, but would need marked.
Hole #16: There is a giant downed tree across the fairway that makes the hole unplayable. If it's not cleared by Sat, there's room for an alternate tee off to the right of #15's pin.
I can bring flags and a DB5 basket.

I dont know if I would say "unplayable". But their is alot of work to be done. Ill try to remember my DB5

The tree on #16 will be taken care of. The guy that is head of grounds is on my fire dept. I informed him of it and he said it will be taken care of. Any other concerns that I can pass on to him?

Yes, BIGBOY and Mahl are running the Mahl Bigboy Oxford CCS. By the way, does anyone have Steve's phone number? Steve if you are out there call me 513-520-1432 so we can talk about the CCS. I have the tournament box and a scoreboard.
Dan, thank you for the heads up on the course. I will be heading up Friday evening to set up temporary holes. And on that note, anyone that has a basket please bring it. I can only bring a skil shot in my car. Bring anything from a skil shot to a regular basket. If you can bring a regular basket call me and let me know and I keep count of baskets.
Dave Marlow, would it be possible to bring some of the club baskets to the Oxford CCS? If so will you need help?
Anyone that would like to meet me up in Oxford on Friday evening to layout the course is more than welcome to come. Call me on my cell if you are interested.

OKAY, I was up at Oxford last night to survey the course and see what needs to happen. Man it has been a long time since I have played Oxford. There are some trees missing and some other trees that have grown, what seems like five feet since last time I was there. Anyway, I have the course set to play as 24 holes. Using the same layout as last year, however, I think we might need to make the course 27 holes, depending on the amount of people. But the big question is how many holes can we play in one day? If my memory serves me right we have had close to 100 people the last few years, depending on weather. With the combined CCS/BID we could well have 120 people or so. In order to speed up play this year we are going to put a drop zone on the boat house/swan lake/Eddy Stollfrigen Memorial Hole or whatever you want to call it. This should keep people from taking 9 and 11 on the hole, you know who you are. As far as a distance comp I would be more than happy to throw it in as long as someone whats to step up and run it. This would include taking money, measuring distances and bringing me the results. The Oxford CCS is always a blast and I look forward to seeing you all there.
As far as baskets go, if you can bring one please bring it and call me so I know how many we will have, 513-520-1432. It is possible that we will need 10 baskets. And yeah, we will need to move hole 2 basket to a different location. I will be marking out the course on Friday evening and will arrive in Oxford around 6:30 or 7:00.
Any Suggestions?

I'll likely not be there so take this from a JAFO P.O.V.- the drop zone for the boat house hole should be at the bottom of the hill so that folks still have the possibility of going O.B. without more lost discs. Have the 27 holes laid out but don't set up the three extras-unless there are needed. That was a long (fun)day last year-have mercy on us old folks. Hope to see you there, Big Daddy Khuns.

Since half of the tree in front of hole 16 is gone it opens up a huge hyzer shot for the big arms.

I will run the distance competition if someone has a wheel I can use (DanH I think you had one, not sure if it was yours or not though).
I'm thinking accuracy distance ala the Gulley Open distance comp. Net distance will be distance along the length of the line minus feet away from the line. For example, if you throw 500 ft, but land 50 feet off of the line your net distance will be 450 feet.

People who want to can throw distance inbetween rounds but for the sake of time and setup I think we should just throw pure distance. The field in Oxford that we throw distance on is used for other sports and we can not expect to set up an accuracy distance field like at Gulley and leave it there all day.

Yea, pure distance is probably quicker I guess. How would you suggest measuring it though, just flag the good throws and then wheel off in a straight line from the tee, whoever is farthest wins?
