    <title>Player Interview - David Wright </title>
    <link>http://www.cincinnatidiscgolf.com/Home/tabid/36/ctl/ArticleView/mid/647/articleId/30/Player-Interview--David-Wright.aspx</link>
    <description>&amp;#160;At 32 years old, David Wright has now been playing disc golf half of his life, first picking up a disc at the ripe old age of 16. &amp;#160;He’s now been keeping scores and running the GCFDA leagues for an impressive 8 years.&amp;#160;David is a Metallurgist (no need to Google this occupation – it’s an engineer trained in the extraction and refining and alloying and fabrication of metals – duh!).&amp;#160;He and his wife live in Lawrenceburg, Indiana.&amp;#160;
Favorite course? - Idlewild is my favorite course.&amp;#160;I also enjoy playing Embshoff in Delhi since this is where I started playing disc golf.
Favorite disc? - My favorite disc is a Roc.&amp;#160;It is the most comfortable and versatile disc I have.
How many aces? - I do not have too many aces, especially for how long I have been playing.&amp;#160;I had two aces at Embshoff and one at Woodland Mound in the mid-90’s and have had a dry spell since this year where I have hit #11 at Heritage and #3 at Wilson Park.&amp;#160;I did have a fallout on the uphill #6 at Burnet a couple of years ago, which would have been a nice ace.
Any special memories from disc golf? - I have met so many wonderful people and have countless joyful memories over the past 16 years through disc golf and Ultimate Frisbee, which I play with several other disc golfers.&amp;#160;I love the 19th hole after a good night of league.&amp;#160;The friendships I have gained through the sport outweigh any single event or experience.&amp;#160;One funny event was spending a weekend with Pete and Karen Caldwell back in the late ‘90s at a tournament in southern Kentucky.&amp;#160;Pete was zooming the car through a dirt field next to the campground not realizing there were random ditches. Luckily, he slammed on the brakes just before we ended up in one of them.&amp;#160;
David’s outlook on disc golf is one that disc golfers of all levels can emulate.&amp;#160;
Advice? - Advice I would give to new players is focus on control.&amp;#160;Distance means nothing if you cannot control it.&amp;#160;Long toss with a putter or practice mid-range.&amp;#160;If you do take your game to a high level, don’t ignore beginners or other players that look up to you.&amp;#160;Always be willing to cordially give advice to those that ask.&amp;#160;Every big dog was once a pup!
Leagues run throughout the year and are a great way to get experience.&amp;#160;The players are a good bunch of people who are always willing to help beginners.&amp;#160;If you’re interested, check out the information under the Wednesday Night League forum.&amp;#160;
