2010 High School Disc Golf Championships

High School Disc Golf Championships
RESULTS from May 8, 2010

Congratulations are in order for the following teams and individuals! Kenton County Parks & Recreation hosted the eighth High School Disc Golf Championships at Lincoln Ridge (formerly Banklick Woods) on Saturday, May 8.

A total of 15 players participated (down from 53 in ’09).

Team Championship scores are determined by each school's five best individual scores.

The Boys Team Championship traveling trophy was won by Anderson (OH) with a Team score of 630. Congratulations to the members of Anderson High School's championship team: Will McKenzie (T-5), Sam Peterson (9), Chris Matre (10), Scott Rosenberry (11), and Tyler Hugenberg (12). The HSDGC Boys Team Championship record remains at 581 and is shared by two schools: St. Xavier (OH) in 2006 and Anderson (OH) in 2005.

1st Place Team and 8th HSDGC Champions ~ Anderson (OH) ~ 630
2nd Place Team ~ Fairfield (OH) ~ 665

In Individual Championship play, now three-time HSDGC Individual Champion Shaun Fair (A Beka Academy) held off Billy Page (Fairfield) to win by one. Shaun’s tournament course record of 100, which he set in 2007 still stands but he was able to manage the course and conditions to shoot a pair of 52’s. 2nd and 3rd place trophies were won by Billy Page, Fairfield (OH), and Lance Fair (A Beka Academy), respectively.

Closest-to-the-Pin Prizes were donated by Dan Bayless, owner of Disc 'N Dat in Florence, KY. CTP's: Round 1 ~ #4 by Michael Sechrist; #14 Upper by Spencer Nunnelley; Round 2 ~ #8 by Jared Brumley; and #17 (temporary) by Spencer Nunnelley. No Aces were recorded.

the reason behind only having 15 partipate from last years 53 is simple... there was no advertizement... me and my friends were all looking forward to this tournament and search for it for months and just today i first see anything about it for the first time and it happens to be last saturday??? poor on the people who organized it.. i think there should be another tournament doesnt have to be for those trophy just so everyone can partipate in the competion...i have 5 ppl that im confident can beat Anderson this year.. so if all else fails Anderson can take a trip to Ohio and be shown up.. email me if you like Anderson haddox1@aol.com

It's a real shame about the lack of success of this tournament. I think this could be one of the best disc golf events for the future of DG in this area. It's truly an amateur event - played for the enjoyment of the players and emphasizes school rivalries - and competition.

I have never understood why this doesn't get better advertisement. All the TD has to do is post on this message board....but he never does. Usually emails a message to someone else to do it. It doesn't make sense to me - to go through all the effort to run a tournament but not spend 5 minutes a couple times a week to put the word out to the players who look forward to it. You only have to reach one kid per school - they'll round up the rest of their team. I just don't get it.

Congratulations Anderson Team - too bad there weren't some more teams there for you to beat!
